Trevor Matthews quits Standard Life for Friends

TREVOR Matthews, head of UK business at Standard Life, has quit the firm to join Friends Provident as group CEO.

Matthews will assume the role vacated by Philip Moore in November last year. Moore resigned from Friends following the collapse of the firm's proposed merger with Resolution. The move comes just two days before Friends Provident will release its strategic review outlining the firm's future direction. Matthews desribes the role is an "outstanding opportunity", adding "Whilst the current environment is challenging, I plan to put past uncertainties behind and, with the team, profitably grow and develop the business.
