Industry now needs 'room to breathe'

Technical Connection head of pensions strategy Claire Trott has branded the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) state pension proposals "change for change's sake" when stability is needed.

Trott (pictured) said: "The industry now just needs room to breathe - it seems like we have had 10 years of unprecedented change." A period of stability, she argued, would allow providers time to get up to speed and clients to plan properly, adding: "That is not possible when the future of pensions policy is uncertain." Trott's reaction followed proposals published today by the CPS, advocating putting the state pension into 'run-off' and the introduction of a ‘senior citizens' pension', payable from the age of 80.
