In this week's Investment Influencers video interview, profiling the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we chat to Oren Kaplan.
Kaplan is cofounder and CEO of www.SharingAlpha.com, a user-generated fund ratings and model portfolios platform that has been described by the Financial Times as being where "Morningstar meets TripAdvisor". The site, says Kaplan, has recently become the world's largest fund rating agency in terms of the number of fund analysts contributing to its ratings.
A partner at an asset management firm that currently has $38bn (£29.6bn) under management, Kaplan has more than 20 years' experience in senior management positions in the financial sector. He is the author of the best-seller Psycho-Finance: The New Psychological Approach to Investments and holds a BSc in Economics from the University of London and an MBA from Tel-Aviv University.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured Mike Neumann of EQ Investors, Caspar Rock of Cazenove Capital and Tom Slocock of Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, offers insights into how key players in the asset management sector see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.
