Today, Chancellor Phillip Hammond delivers his first Autumn Statement, setting out government taxation and spending plans as well as an assessment of the state of the UK economy.

This Autumn Statement feels particularly difficult to predict. 2016 has clearly been a year of great political upheaval but there have also been significant changes in policy too - for example, the government's U-turn on the secondary annuity market. Additionally, we have witnessed huge market turbulance - at the start of the year, in the wake of the EU referendum result in June and, more recently, following the US presidential election.
