Many advisers - especially those of a certain age - began their financial services career at a life company. But very few go back. One IFA proves it's possible, and that you can even make the switch again.

Katherine Oxenham knows a lot about financial services. So much in fact that the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) employs her to decide which parts of its qualification course syllabus' will feature in exams. She also sets the questions and marks the papers. "I'm not really supposed to say too much about it," she confides, "But I will tell you that over the years I've been marking I see candidates make the same mistakes, answering the questions they wish were there rather than what's in front of them."
