Getting clients to open up about what they see as minor medical conditions could boost their retirement income significantly through an enhanced annuity.

The number of working pensioners has almost doubled in the past 20 years, according to latest numbers from the government. Data from the Office for National Statistics, released last week, said the number of workers over 65 rose from 753,000 in 1993 to 1.4 million by 2011, with the biggest surge coming between 2000 and 2010. It would appear the UK's pensions crisis is resulting in people realising they just do not have enough money post-65 to pay for luxuries, or perhaps pay bills or simply to make ends meet.
