This month our panel of experts puts the spotlight on Axa Isle of Man's Evolution bond - the winner of International Investment's Best International Life Product
Evolution is a comprehensive offshore portfolio bond, comprising several products within one.
With a minimum investment of £15,000, a choice of six charging structures and a full range of fund links, Evolution is able to meet investors' needs in a wide variety of circumstances.
Available to individual, corporate and trustee investors, Evolution can help with tax efficient financial planning. As an offshore bond the usual boxes are all ticked: flexibility, choice and control, through the investment choices available through the bond, as well as the choice of currency in which it is written and the charging structure selected.
Further flexibility is offered through writing the bond on a capital redemption basis, meaning the bond does not have to be cashed in on the death of the investor. The beneficiaries can choose to withdraw money from the bond, in full or in part, when it best suits them. This gives them greater control over the tax position.
Evolution can be wrapped in an appropriate trust arrangement to achieve specific aims. AXA Isle of Man is able to act as professional trustees, which can be an onerous burden for laymen. Investors may appoint an investment adviser, from whom AXA Isle of Man can accept instructions regarding fund selection. Investors may appoint a discretionary fund manager and custodian to manage the investments held in the bond.
AXA Family funds allow investors to take advantage of the global investment capability of the AXA Group. The range of funds, managed by AXA, offers expert management of a wide range of funds, across a range of risk categories, invested in most major asset classes and invested across the world.
The Select range comprises funds which are mirrors of funds from external houses. These give investors access to the expertise of external fund managers without the need for a dealing account.
Finally, the full arena of external funds is available from a wide range of the world's major investment management groups. Where external funds are selected, a dealing account is set up against which all cash transactions, including purchasing and selling of investments, charges and withdrawals, will be credited or debited. AXA Isle of Man is able to negotiate preferential terms with many fund houses and the rebates received on the fund charges are passed back to the investor, via the dealing account.
Financial advisers and their clients have access to AXA Isle of Man Online, a secure extranet which provides constant access to information such as policy valuations, commission statements, pipeline reporting and online trading.
