A stunning set of entries marked Investment Week's inaugural Fund Services Awards 2013. The awards were held in honour of those service providers that keep the wheels of the fund management industry turning efficiently.
Among the firms to pick up a trophy were Calastone, RBC Investor & Treasury Services and BNP Paribas Securities Services. Sungard, Ogier Fund Services and Kii Hub also achieved honours.
The awards ceremony was the grand finale of Investment Week’s Fund Management Summit (FMS) held in London on Tuesday 15th - Wednesday 16th October. Three hundred delegates attended the summit, which delivered a set of fresh and experimental talks and workshops on issues facing the fund management industry.
In particular, competitive pressures are seeing a need for fund managers to get to market in the most efficient and quickest time possible. Whether this is through the use of specific software or expert compliance knowledge, service providers that demonstrate they can offer the necessary support are in demand.
Commenting on the awards, Deborah Benn, chair of the judging panel said:
“An increased focus on administration and compliance calls for innovative and expert services that not only fulfill the fund management industry's requirements, but improve processes to a high standard that encourage and promote best practice. All our winners possess these qualities, so congratulations to them all.”
To enter the awards, services providers were asked to submit a case study highlighting their abilities against a set criteria. The best submissions were then put forward to a panel of expert judges. An online voting system was also used as part of the process.
In assessing submissions, judges looked for a range of attributes such as clear identification of the service objective as well as evidence of a solution and satisfactory client outcome. Also assessed was the use of technology and innovation brought to the task, levels of service and support as well as key service differentiators.
Those who achieved the final cut demonstrated an impressive array of technological solutions, skills and expertise to fulfill a variety of back, middle and front office services to help the fund management industry expand on a global scale, provide innovative new services and improve the customer journey.
The winners and highly commended entries demonstrated they possess the knowledge, drive and expertise to fulfill a variety of these services in the most seamless, efficient and beneficial way to clients.
