M&G Investments has appointed Andrew Hendry to the newly created position of Managing Director, Asia, to offer a more local service to distributors in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Andrew joined M&G last year and was most recently at Capital International, where he was responsible for global distribution relationships. During a 10-year career with Capital, he worked in Singapore, Los Angeles and Geneva.
In his new role, Andrew is tasked with building a team in Singapore and Hong Kong who will service the growing number of M&G distribution partners in the region. He will operate from a newly opened office in Singapore’s financial district.
Michael McLintock, Chief Executive of M&G, says: “Excellent investment performance remains the single biggest determinant of success in fund management, but high standards of client service can also be an important differentiator. Andrew’s appointment is a significant step in raising the quality of the service that we provide to our distribution partners in an increasingly important region for M&G. He and his team will be able offer a more local service to the international banks and institutional investors there, complementing our efforts in Europe.”
Andrew Hendry adds: “M&G has a natural disposition to take a long-term view, not only when managing investments on behalf of its clients, but also in its commitment to markets outside of its UK home. It has taken M&G the best part of a decade to become a fund manager of choice in Europe, having opened its first office in Germany in 2002. The firm is prepared to take a similarly patient approach to the development of its business in Asia.”
