Standard Bank has appointed Seán Flanagan as Head of Compliance to develop and deliver the compliance capabilities of its its operations in Jersey, the Isle of Man and Mauritius.
Mr Flanagan joins Standard Bank from the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) where he was responsible for the funds and investment business team. Now based in Jersey, he will lead a team of nine to oversee the compliance framework and implement appropriate policies and procedures for Standard Bank Offshore.
Chief Risk Officer at Standard Bank Offshore, Mark Hucker, said: “This is an important role within our Offshore division and Seán’s considerable compliance and banking experience in a range of offshore jurisdictions will be invaluable going forward."
Mr Flanagan has over 20 years compliance experience within a range of sectors including banking, asset management, funds and investment business in major jurisdictions from London to New York and offshore locations including the Caribbean. He has also gained experience while working for the Dubai Financial Services Authority focussing on the supervision of asset managers, investment banks and funds.
He holds a Master of Business Administration Degree, is a Fellow of the Securities & Investment Institute and a member of the Institute of Financial Services. He has also lectured for the Securities & Investment Institute examination programme and has acted as a syllabus advisor to London Metropolitan University for their MSc in Regulation & Compliance.
