Following on from its report into the relative merits of onshore and offshore bonds and directly held mutual funds (see news item from 27 May ), FundsNetwork is staging a series of regional seminars to bring the debate to an audience of UK-based IFAs.
The report’s author Paul Kennedy, head of trusts and tax planning solutions at FundsNetwork, will discuss the relative tax efficiency of collective investments and insurance bonds. He will be joined by Steve Hutton, Fidelity’s head of IFA sales, who will cover the principles of intelligent asset allocation.
The 90-minute seminars are set to take place in nine locations across the UK during the week commencing 30 June. Kicking off on the Monday near Gatwick, the seminars will move on to Southampton, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Harrogate and Newcastle, finishing in Glasgow on Friday 4 July.
The aim of the workshops is to ensure advisers are armed with the necessary understanding of how asset classes are taxed from wrapper to wrapper to enable them to make informed decisions for their clients.
Paul Kennedy commented: “As a platform providing both bonds and collectives, its makes no difference to us which tax wrapper advisers use. This puts FundsNetwork in a position where we can truly offer advisers an unbiased view on the collectives versus insurance bonds debate that others may not.”
