Guernsey's deputy chief minister Lyndon Trott has led a high level delegation to Washington DC to argue the island should not be included on potential lists of offshore secrecy jurisdictions or tax havens, as presently presented in draft Bills being proposed in the US Senate.
The delegation included HM Procureur Nik van Leuven, States chief executive Mike Brown and Director General of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission Peter Neville. The delegation of four attended a total of twelve meetings with Tax Counsel and other senior advisers to the Senators and Representatives proposing and supporting the Bills and the US Treasury.
