GAM is reopening its European Hedge fund to subscriptions on 7 February. It was previously closed on 27 January 2003 after its assets exceeded $450m. The euro-listed class was then closed to new investors on 22 March 2004. But the manager of the fund, John Bennett, said the current environment for large and mid-cap equities provides sufficient investment opportunities on both the long and short sides to support a further growth in assets.
