Schroders' Chinese joint venture has launched its first product - a medium-risk multi-asset fund with a focus on Chinese equities.
The Bank of Communications Schroder Fund Management's fund will start with 40% in core defensive stocks, 30% in cyclical growth stocks and 30% in cash. It may invest in fixed interest investments but will not do so initially. The fund is aimed at Chinese retail investors and Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFIIs)
The fund manager is Feng Zhao, who is supported by a team of five analysts and researchers in China. The fund management team will also draw on the expertise of Schroders' regional investment team.
Fund manager Feng ZHAO said: "There are a number of mis-priced opportunities in the Chinese equity markets. Investors need to control risk while seeking out return. This fund allows us to capture growth opportunities while minimising risk thanks to a balanced allocation between stocks and asset classes."
