Bupa is to buy two expatriate health insurance companies Amedex Insurance and International Health Insurance Danmark (IHI).
Dean Holden, managing director of Bupa's international business, said: "Over a third of Bupa's business now comes from its international operations. Amedex and IHI have excellent reputations and we believe they will complement our existing expatriate business Bupa International. They will create a strong platform for further growth for our expatriate health insurance business."
US-based insurer Amedex distributes its products in Latin America and the Caribbean and insures more than 100,000 people in 42 countries. IHI is a Danish business that provides cover for some 240,000 private and corporate clients in more than 190 countries.
Bupa refused to give any details of changes to its business on the back of the purchases.
