Product: Opus Diversifier Bond
Description: A capital guaranteed bond fund in which the investments will be split between the FTSE100, oil prices, dollar/sterling exchange rate movements and an income account. The investment term is for six years.
Product: Abingworth BioEquities fund (ABE)
Description: To be managed by Joe Anderson, the fund will invest broadly across the life sciences field including human therapeutics and healthcare. As well as investing in small and mid-cap stocks in the open market, ABE will also invest in public companies through PIPEs and negotiated transactions.
Product: Joyous Notes
Description: The product gives investors the choice of either investing in the euro/dollar foreign exchange rate or a basket of five Hong Kong stocks. This includes HSBC, Hutchison Whampoa, Sun Hung Kai Properties, MTR Corporation and PetroChina.
Bank of Scotland
Product: Capital Guaranteed Savings Bond Issue 14
Description: The product offers investors a guaranteed fixed-rate return and exposure to the growth of a stock market index. Half the investor's capital is invested in an account promising a fixed return and half in a bond that tracks an index.
Barclays Global Investors
Product: BGI Liability Solutions funds (Dublin)
Description: BGI is launching a further 16 products in its liability driven funds range. The new products aim is to increase the scope to achieve additional performance as well as matching liabilities.
Products: Two Luxembourg domiciled funds
Description: The funds will aim to capitalise on the growing interest from investors and potential economic growth of Brazil, Russia, India and China. The first fund will start with equal weightings between the four markets. The second will also invest in US fixed income and cash.
Canada Life International
Product: Midas Balanced Growth fund and Midas Balanced Income fund
Description: Both funds will be added to its offshore product range. Simon Edwards manager of the Balanced Growth Fund has received a 'AAA' rating by Citywire, and Alan Borrows, manager of the Balanced Income Fund has received a 'AA' rating.
Dawnay Day Quantum
Description: Oeic funds based in Dublin will use quantitative techniques and derivatives for portfolio construction and risk management. The first product to be launched will buy UK equities using derivatives to hedge the downside.
Dow Jones Indexes & AIG Financial Products
Product: Commodity indices
Description: Five commodity indices and sub-indices for investors wanting to invest in the alternative asset class. This will include euro and yen commodity indices, an energy future price index, an agricultural sub-index and a commodity spot index.
Eclectica Asset Management
Products: European ex UK unit trust and Pan European fund
Description: Ex-Odey Hugh Hendry has plans to establish two long-only European funds early next year, following the establishment of his boutique.
Product: Target funds
Description: Two more tranches are to be launched. The funds, managed by Richard Skelt, invest in global equity funds, global bond funds and cash. The proportion of the assets allocated to bonds and cash rises over time up to almost 100% to reduce volatility as the products reach their end dates. These dates have been set at 2025 and 2030.
Product: Luxembourg Sicav
Description: Franklin Templeton Luxembourg Sicav range will now be available in Poland. Local distributors will have the option to trade directly with Franklin Templeton through a Polish based subsidiary of Citigroup's Global Transaction Services Division.
FTSE Group & Research Affiliates
Products: FTSE RAFI 1000 for the US and FTSE RAFI Global ex US 1000 indexes
Description: The team plans to introduce fundamental indices for the US and international financial markets. Fundamental indexing selects, ranks and weights companies, not by market capitalisation but by financial fundamental measures such as sales, cash flow, book price and dividends.
Integrity Financial Solutions
Product: Utopia fund
Description: It offers assured returns of at least 8% after charges over 10 years from investments in US jumbo senior life policy settlement policies. The product has guarantees built into both the payment of premiums and on the maturity of policies.
Product: Equity hedge fund
Description: A long/short equity fund investing the Arab world and Turkey, to be managed by Khaled Abdel Majeed. The fund will target 15%-20% net annual returns over a cycle after its launch. As Islamic law forbids shorting, the manager will organise some of the fund's short positions directly with stock lenders.
Montpelier Fund Management
Product: Discretionary and advisory portfolio management advice
Description: Clients can build a portfolio by investing directly in shares or fixed interest securities, which can then be placed in an offshore wrapper for tax purposes.
Old Mutual Asset Management
Product: Prosper 80 Bond
Description: A bond that invests in hedge funds and offers investors a protection rate equivalent to 80% of its highest ever price. It has a target return of cash plus 4% after charges. It also offers a protected price of 80% of the highest-ever fund price: every time the price reaches a new high, the protected price rises.
Pioneer Investments & Banco Best
Product: Sub funds
Description: Registered eight of its sub-funds in the Portuguese markets. The eight funds mainly consist of bond funds but also include a mid-cap value fund.
Singer & Friedlander Private Banking
Product: Expatriate banking
Description: The service will lend to HNWIs who have substantial loan needs such as if they want to buy overseas residential property. It will also offer finance structures for HNWIs who want to purchase specialist luxury yachts.
Way Investment Services
Description: A life bond that will help mitigate clients inheritance tax. The bond is domiciled in Luxembourg and will be invested in the risk-graded portfolio-style funds offered by Way fund managers. Investors can choose from three basic plans. The first two utilise trusts with retained reversionary interests for the donor.
Product: Global Macro Hedge fund
Description: The fund is due to be launched on 1 December and is the second product to be offered by the group since its inception.
