PCE Investors is to launch a long/short energy fund in October, which invests in commodity futures, swaps and options.
The Cumulus Energy fund strategy is based on the existing multi-strategy Weather portfolio, which also invests in commodity futures, swaps and options together with equities and derivatives.
The product has a focus towards the European electricity and carbon emissions market and can go net short or net long.
Peter Brewer, fund manager of the Cumulus Energy portfolio, said: "Many investors are seeking to increase their allocations to energy without just adding more exposure to equities, oil or US natural gas.
Brewer said the portfolio aimed for high returns with low correlation to commodity market indices or other energy funds.
The minimum investment is $1m with sterling and euro currencies available. The product has an annual management charge of 2% and a performance fee of 20% of absolute returns over a high watermark.
