Ian Gibson has been appointed chief executive of Standard Bank Offshore, following the decision of the bank to choose Jersey as its centre for its international headquarters. Gibson has moved from the bank"s London office and brings with him the responsibility for the group"s international asset management and private client business. In addition, he has direct responsibility for the Standard Bank Offshore operations in Jersey, the Isle of Man and Mauritius.

Insight has had two new appointments. Eugen Fostiak has been appointed deputy director, strategy and portfolio construction and Francois Zagame has been appointed deputy director of fund and manager selection. Both join Insight from UBS Wealth Management. Fostiak was deputy head of portfolio construction at UBS Managed Accounts Programmes. Zagame was previously head of manager and fund research at UBS.

Calvert Hassard has been appointed international servicing manager at Friends Provident International (FPI). In his new position, Hassard will be responsible for the overall delivery of FPI"s service proposition across both operations within the company: the Isle of Man and Guernsey-based product lines. A key element of this role will be to continue the integration of the Isle of Man company into the Friends Provident Group, which is an ongoing project, following the acquisition of the company in August 2002.

Paul van de Geijn has been appointed chief executive officer of the Life Insurance Business at Zurich Financial Services and will become a member of the Group Executive Committee (GEC). He joins Zurich from Aegon where he was a member of the executive board of Aegon Group, responsible for Aegon USA. In his position with Zurich, van de Geijn will assume global leadership of the life insurance business. He will report to the group"s chief executive officer James Schiro.

TO: Hedge fund advisory group
Belinda Boey has been appointed vice-president and co-head of the Hedge Fund Advisory Group for clients in Europe, Middle East and Africa at JP Morgan Private Bank. Boey will be responsible for advising the private bank"s clients in hedge fund portfolio construction and manager selection.
Boey previously worked for Union Bancaire Privée, where she was a member of management and advised clients on hedge fund selection and portfolio construction.
Name: Kristoffer Lind
TO: Credit suisse asset management
Kristoffer Lind has been appointed vice-president of Nordic mutual fund sales at Credit Suisse Asset Management. Lind will be responsible for mutual fund business development in the Nordic countries including Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. He is given the task of establishing distribution channels for CSAM"s mutual fund business to institutions and retailers including banks, insurance companies, asset managers and intermediary networks. Lind will report to James Beddall, head of Benelux and Nordic mutual fund sales.

Pascal Thorens has been head of fund distribution in Switzerland at Nordea Investment Funds in Switzerland. He has worked in the industry for the past 14 years and previous positions include trader on the Basle Stock Exchange then called Schweizerische Kreditanstalt. He joined UBS in 1999, working in product management for securities and investment funds. One of his main responsibilities there was development and management of bundled solutions in the area of proprietary and external funds.
Name: Dave Baldt
Dave Baldt has been appointed executive vice-president of the global fixed income team at Schroders. Baldt joins Schroders from Deutsche Asset Management, where he was managing director and chief investment officer of US active fixed income. Baldt will open Schroders" Philadelphia office, and will report to Bob Michele, global head of fixed income. Baldt will start and oversee tax-exempt fixed income management, and will participate in the core and core plus fixed income strategies.
TO: Sagitta Asset management
Conrad Montford has been appointed client director at Sagitta Asset Management. The position has been newly created and will involve the development of the business in the UK and Channel Islands. Montford has 16 years" experience in the wealth management sector. He joins Sagitta from Credit Suisse private banking, where he was a director of investment management. His responsibilities included managing the trust team and working with both onshore and offshore trustees and their advisers.

Key Asset Management has appointed two new people. James Freeman has been appointed senior relationship manager and Phelim Bolger has been appointed marketing and sales executive. Freeman joins from Martin Currie where he was a senior sales professional and Bolger joins from JPMorgan Alternative Asset Management.

Patrick Cooper has been appointed director at J O Hambro Investment Management. Cooper joins from AXA Investment Managers where he was head of retail. During his time at AXA he was part of the team responsible for completing a £600m deal with Bradford & Bingely, one of the largest deals completed in the UK investment fund market to date. He will be working with executive marketing director Hugh Grootenhuis to develop new private client relationships.

Angelos Athanasopoulos has been appointed portfolio manager with the fixed income team responsible for government bonds.

Silfverling has joined Gartmore from Fidelity Investments International in Stockholm where he was sales manager, Nordic Region. Prior to joining Fidelity, Silfverling obtained over four years of investment experience from working at Banco Fonder AB, Stockholm, where he was an investment advisor, and Hagströmer & Qviberg AB, Stockholm, where he was employed as a portfolio manager/stockbroker.

Lambert will be responsible for managing relationships with investment and client fund groups.
