This year's Ashburton investment conference, in Jersey, includes former South African President FW De Klerk, and former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kenneth Clarke. In a departure from previous events, this year's conference, on 16 November, will be in the form of a debate. The theme is on whether democratic politics is derailing globalisation. The debate will be chaired by Peter Hobday, previously of the Today Programme and the Money Programme. Completing this heavyweight line-up are Jersey's chief minister, Senator Frank Walker, economic commentator of The Times, Anatole Kaletsky, Ashburton's global investment strategist Peter Lucas and Ashburton director and ever-popular speaker, Ian Ling.
