Janus Capital Group has launched a slew of products directed towards the Taiwan, Swiss and Danish regions as well as hiring sales staff for developments in Italy and Germany.
In Taiwan, the JWF Global Equity Fund has been registered for sale for local investors. The portfolio managed by Jason Yee uses a value approach. He invests in many special situations companies or stocks that are temporarily out of favour and are experiencing management changes. The main criteria for investment is that companies must be improving their free cash flows. The global equity fund takes the Janus Taiwanese product range up to 10.
Neal Jenkins, director of communications at Janus Capital Group, said: "The fund had to gain a three-year track record before we could launch it for the Taiwanese market. After this was complete it was our intention to launch the product in Taiwan as there has been demand for a global fund in the country."
Janus Risk Manager Core Fund has also been registered for the Swiss market. Intech is manager of this portfolio. Intech use a mathematical formula to identify stocks that have high relative volatility and low correlation to each other. Janus launched its Risk Manager range in Europe in April 2003 and has been planning to launch these products in Switzerland once regulatory approval was completed.
In another move in Europe, Janus has been selected by the Danish government to be a fund provider in its pension platform. The platform will allow Danish investors, under the government-sponsored Special Pensions Saving Scheme, to choose a range of approximately 200 Danish and foreign funds, including 12 Janus World Funds.
