Mark Pollard has been appointed managing director of European equities at Putnam Investments and will be the first European equities manager to be based in London.
He rejoins Putnam from Jura Capital, where he was one of the founding partners. In his new role he will be responsible for all European fundamental equity research and analysis. He is the first portfolio manager for European equities to be based in London rather than at Putnam's head office in Boston.
Pollard has spent 22 years in the investment business, including 14 years in fund management, starting at Putnam Investments in 1990.
Josh Brooks, managing director of core equities at Putnam, said: "Pollard's appointment represent a further step in linking the equity analysts directly to the individual investment management teams and giving the teams greater autonomy. It also reflects our commitment to local European research."
"It is a significant development for Putnam in Europe as it represents a major step in the firm's strategy of building local experience and capability in European equities. This has very positive implications for the investment strategies and solutions we can offer to our European clients and investors."
