The Association of Inter-national Life Offices is celebrating 20 years of working to develop the international and cross-border life industry.
Founded in 1987, AILO has a membership based in the principal offshore centres such as the Isle of Man, Ireland, the Channel Islands and Luxembourg, serving customers worldwide, including the UK, Continental Europe, Latin America, the Middle and Far East, and Africa.
Chairman Alan Morgan-Moodie was recently re-elected to his post in management committee elections that also saw Rachel Panagiodis, CEO of Hansard Europe Ltd, appointed deputy chairman.
AILO's 20th anniversary was marked by a gala dinner, with EU internal markets commissioner Charlie McCreevy as guest of honour.
Morgan-Moodie commented: "In many ways the industry is still in its infancy, having been in existence in its current form for just over two decades. Innovation has been led by the offshore companies on many occasions and I'm sure this will continue."
AILO publishes a series of guides to help advisers understand the benefits of investing offshore, as well as the tax and legal implications of serving different markets. Further details are available at www.ailo.org.
