Philip Tarplee has left his role as manager of the offshore islands at Clerical Medical International (CMI). The insurer said it does not know if Tarplee has another job to go to or what his future plans are.
Katie Greenwood has replaced him as manager of the offshore islands at CMI. She was previously working at Clerical Medical.
Tarplee managed CMI-branded sales and customer service functions via intermediaries across Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. He joined Clerical Medical in 1990 and has worked exclusively in the offshore market since 1996.
The insurer said the departure of Tarplee does not signal a reduction in its presence in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. It said Greenwood will continue to be supported by two consultants, Steven Pattison and Tony Clarke, in the offshore islands.
CMI has retrenched its offshore business over the past couple of years. The insurer has withdrawn from Asia and the Middle East to focus on the offshore islands, continental Europe and the UK.
The insurer has also undergone changes in continental Europe this year. CMI no longer distributes its products through Protrust and European Business Network (EBN) in Germany.
The company still retains minority stakes in three distribution companies in Germany - VSP, EMS and Master Financial. In April this year, CMI said it was looking to deepen its relationships with these three intermediaries.
It is believed the group is keen on exclusive distribution partners in Germany.
