Man Global Strategies Investment Strategies has become the thousandth security to be admitted to the Channel Islands Stock Exchange (CISX), showing the increase in popularity of the exchange for fund listings.
Tamara Menteshvili, chief executive of the CISX, noted: "For the first few years, we were averaging around 100 listings a year. But in 2004 we had 204 listings and this year we have had 360." A high proportion of the securities on the CISX are open and closed-ended funds, with property funds featuring prominently. But Menteshvili said structured products and UK plcs are also listing there.
She attributed the growth in the number of CISX listings to a number of factors. These include UK investors being able to include CISX-listed securities in their self-invested personal pensions since 10 December 2002.
