In a bold move into a new market, Henderson Global Investors has launched its first managed portfolio.
The initiative will, at first, be made available to US investors, giving them access to a broad range of international investments via US dollar-denominated securities.
Michael Andrews, director of business development at Henderson, said: 'The managed account business is a fast-growing segment of market aimed at high net worth individuals.
'The products have been available through J & W Seligman where Henderson was sub adviser. The product will be transferred into the Henderson name. This will establish the group as a managed portfolio player in the US.'
Investments in the portfolio will consist of large-cap companies. Stocks will be chosen using a top-down and bottom-up investment approach.
The product will initially be available in the Morgan Stanley ACCESS, Oppenheimer Investment Advisory Services and the CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Consulting Service managed account programmes.
The product will only be available to US investors as it is not widely known in other parts of the world, such as Europe.
Henderson already has mutual and fixed income funds operating in the US market.
This includes the European focus fund, the global technology fund and the international opportunities fund. The company currently has $143bn in assets under management and has products available in Asia, Europe and North America.
