Offshore legal and fiduciary services provider Ogier has been named Niche Firm of the Year in the Legal Week Awards 2006. The accolade acknowledges the specialist nature of the work undertaken by Ogier in the increasing number of jurisdictions it now operates. The pending merger with BVI-based WSmiths was mentioned as a key development for the firm. The nominations and shortlist were compiled by the editorial team at Legal Week, part of Incisive Media, which also publishes International Investment. Clive Chaplin, partner and head of Ogier's business and trust law group, said: "This tops off what has been an incredible year for Ogier, both in terms of the expansion of the firm and prestigious industry acknowledgement." Also shortlisted for Niche Firm of the Year were Maples & Calder, Wiggin & Co, Forsters and Sacker & Partners.
