Anglo Irish Bank
Product: International pension
Description: Anglo Irish is offering corporate and personal pension plans for high net worth international executives and companies with multinational operations and workforces. Assets and investments can be held, or invested, in a range of financial vehicles including quoted shares, fixed interest securities, bank and building society deposits, unit trusts, insurance policies, unquoted securities and property. Once a member has joined the plan they can change jobs and jurisdiction and continue making contributions to the Anglo Irish policy.
Bramdean Asset Management
Product: Dublin multi-manager funds
Description: Bramdean has launched six Dublin multi-manager funds. Asset classes covered include UK and global equities as well as UK gilts and international bonds. In 2005, Bramdean intends to launch an absolute return fund and a private equity fund of funds. There will also be a property fund that will seek to add value through improved planning consent and the use of leverage.
Product: Web-based research tool
Description: Financial Express has launched a web-based research tool for IFAs and institutions to analyse funds and individual equities. As Analytics is a web-based service, the data can be continually updated and is available 24 hours. Users can customise charts and tables according to their individual wishes. They can use a mix of performance, pricing and factsheet data. Users can create their own benchmarks using indices, asset classes and personal portfolios. As well as tables, IFAs can create line or scatter charts.
Product: Hedge funds
Description: Threadneedle Investments has added a fund of hedge funds and a fifth long/short fund to its range. The Crescendo Fund of Hedge Funds meets transparency requirements to be marketed in Germany and will invest in 15 hedge funds using Feri Trust's ratings. The Threadneedle Global Crescendo Fund is to be managed by Jeremy Podger with a global mandate.
Thames River Capital
Product: Bond funds
Description: Thames River Capital has launched Euro Global Bond and US Dollar Global Bond funds. They are modelled on the Global Bond fund, which has been re-named the Thames River Sterling Global Bond fund. The new funds will have benchmarks and portfolio strategies designed for euro and US dollar investors.
Product: Russian bond index
Description: WestLB Research has launched the Russian Corporate Bond Index. It tracks more than 35 US dollar denominated Russian Corporate issues. According to WestLB Research, the performance of the index was detrimentally affected by events surrounding Yukos but spreads tightened later in the year. More than $23bn was issued in 2004.
Magnum Global Investment
Product: Long/short hedge fund
Description: Magnum Global Investment has launched the Aptus Capital Offshore long/short fund, which focuses on 'under-followed and under-appreciated' US small and mid-cap growth companies. On the long side, the fund, which is managed by John Romero, will invest in companies with market caps of less than $2bn.
Product: Multi-asset class fund of funds including hedge
Description: The Cayman Island-domiciled Multi-Dimensional WealthFund will seek to achieve capital growth from a diversified portfolio of funds, selecting from all the major asset classes such as hedge funds, equity funds, fixed interest and bond funds, property funds, commodities and cash. International fund research and investment house Forsyth Partners are to act as investment adviser for the fund.
Product: Mirror funds
Description: Royal Skandia has added Threadneedle Investments funds to its offshore platform for the first time. The first three funds to be included are the Threadneedle Strategic Bond and Dollar Bond funds and the Threadneedle American Growth fund. Royal Skandia said the Dollar Bond and American Growth funds meet demand from dollar-based clients in Asia.
Isle of Man Financial Services Commission
Product: Online company search service
Description: The Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission has launched an online search facility of companies based in the island, overseas companies registered in the jurisdiction and business names. The Online Public View Search Facility enables people to search company records, check the availability of company names and submit applications to reserve a company name.
Product: New share class
Description: Pimco has added a Swedish krona share class for the core investment strategies in its Dublin Ucits fund, Pimco Funds: Global Investors Series. Pimco argued that this will enable Swedish investors to diversify their allocation to overseas bonds. According to Pimco, Norwegian investors have been keener to invest in international fixed interest.
Product: Dublin Ucits
Description: The Magna Turkey fund aims to capture the economic and financial potential of Turkey, which the OECD said has the potential to be one of the fastest growing global economies in the next few years. It will be benchmarked against the ISE National 100 Index. Charlemagne said it has launched the Latin American fund because of growing political stability, improving profitability and China's burgeoning demand for commodity exports.
Product: Jersey limited liability company
Description: The Invesco UK Property Income Trust (IPIT) has a bias towards commercial property in South East England. The portfolio of 32 holdings is currently dominated by industrial properties and offices and its most recent and expensive acquisition was in Theale. The fund has a yield of 6%.
Friends Provident International
Product: Mirror funds
Description: The mirror range of funds has been expanded to provide investors with access to the energy, fixed income securities and Eastern Europe. The new funds are the Invesco GT Capital Shield, Investec GS Global Energy and Baring Eastern Europe funds.
Product: Guaranteed bond
Description: This combines an immediate access income account with a growth account linked to two stock markets. Up to 50% can be placed in an income account with a rate guaranteed to be 0.75% above the Bank of England Base Rate. The rest can be placed in a growth account linked to the performance of the FTSE 100 and S&P 500 indices. It will pay 100% growth of these indices plus the original capital.
Scottish Equitable International
Product: Manager of managers fund
Description: SEI has added a third manager of managers offering to its fund range. The Cautious Manager of Managers fund is also being managed by Northern Trust Global Investments and joins its Stock Market Managed and Balanced Managed Manager of Managers. The fund invests in equities and fixed interest and will be positioned in the Lipper Mixed Asset Balanced Other Sector. The average asset allocation in the sector is currently 41.5% in UK fixed interest, 40% in UK equities, 4.7% in cash, 2.9% in overseas bonds, 2.7% in North American equities, 2.4% in index-linked UK government bonds and 2.2% in property.
