Welcome to International Investment's eighth annual London Forum and sixth International Fund & Products Awards 2006. This year's forum saw a host of key industry representatives come together to offer practical advice to advisers operating in the offshore market.
Areas covered included using offshore bonds for retirement planning as well an in-depth look at the benefits of international pension legislation.
The day's guest speaker, Angela Knight, chief executive of the Association of Private Client Investment Managers, also addressed the issues facing the wealth management industry and how these could be overcome, while other speakers argued the case for structured products and examined trust, taxation and residency issues.
IFAs were also offered practical advice on how to develop professional connections to further their businesses and changes to trusts outlined in the Finance Bill 2006 were put under the microscope.
This year's international awards also saw some close competition from more than 40 products providers across 14 separate categories, from funds to international life companies and from healthcare to structured products and banking. Winners of the categories were judged on the same elements including commitment to target market, security and levels of support offered by parent group, appropriateness of product range, use of technology and product innovation as well as levels of service and support to distributors and overall involvement at industry level.
Industry Voice: For generations, life expectancy has been steadily increasing, with more and more people now likely to live to 100.
