Axa Wealth's multi-manager arm Architas has appointed former UBS GAM sales director James Bampton as head of intermediary sales.
Bampton will report to head of business development Cedric Bucher in the new role and will head up a new seven strong intermediary distribution team.
He most recently spent more than five years as a sales director at UBS Global Asset Management. Prior to this, he was head of advisory sales for Fidelity International.
Architas head of business development Cedric Bucher said: "We have continued to see very strong inflows across our risk profiled fund range during 2013. James' appointment to this new role is an extension of our strategy to respond to this adviser demand and make our funds as widely available as possible, in addition to our relationship across AXA Wealth.
"With the growing popularity of risk profiled funds and solutions among advisers, we believe now is the time to expand our distribution team. James' experience, and that of the wider team, will enable us to work even closer with advisers and help them meet the changing needs of their clients."
Architas grew assets by 12% to £12.6bn in the third quarter of the year.
The growth helped Axa Wealth increase its overall assets by 18%, from £20.8bn to £24.6bn.
Axa Wealth recorded a 45% rise in assets under management on its Elevate platform in the same period.
Elevate grew assets from £4.8bn in Q3 2012 to £6.9bn this year, thanks in part to £1.5bn worth of new sales.
The group said three quarters of all inflows in September went into 'clean' share class funds.
