City Financial plans to launch an independent fund research service in the spring for financial advisers run by Peter Toogood and Gill Hutchinson.
The service, named the Adviser Centre, will be web-based and aimed primarily at helping financial advisers streamline their business processes in the post-Retail Distribution Review (RDR) environment.
Toogood and Hutchison joined City Financial's multi-asset team, led by Mark Harris, on 1 October after leaving Morningstar OBSR in June.
The new service will offer independent fund research and general market and industry commentary to financial advisers.
The team will recommend around 100 established, actively managed funds. It will create a ‘Positive Watch' list of funds, as well as a platform for commentary on younger investment talent and product innovations.
Toogood (pictured) said: "We recognise that advisers face an array of challenges which necessitate a range of solutions. As multi-asset investors ourselves, we are definitively aligned with advisers' interests."
Andrew Williams, chief executive, added: "The firm is in a position to adapt and evolve its service offering as the requirements of advisers change.
"We believe that the future of fund management firms lies in providing a complete, solutions-based package of services, including fund research and consulting."
