Capital Platform, the alternative investment platform, has re-launched and is now offering bespoke professional indemnity cover for new or existing advisory firms it does business with.
It said one of the major obstacles advisory firms have in looking at the alternative and unregualted collective investment scheme markets is their existing professional indemnity policies won't cover the sectors.
Capital Platform director and ex-underwriter Darren Beddard said: "Capital Platform has been designed as a trusted source to give intermediaries and advisors everything they need to best serve clients in their alternative investment strategies.
"Core to the service is the research and due diligence we undertake into both the product providers and their investments and assets prior to their acceptance on the platform. The aim is to ensure the products on the platform conform to Regulatory and Financial Services and Markets Act rules."
The platform will also have forums for advisers to test investment funds so that they can learn from each other.
Beddard said:"Many of the problems with alternative funds is advisers don't spend enough time fully understand how they work or understand issues about liquidity. We are doing a lot of that work for them, and the chat rooms will allow them to share views on individual funds."
Capital Platform has also listed two new funds on its system.
The Ebullio Far East Commodity Futures fund, managed by Ebullio Capital Management is a discretionary multi-commodity futures fund.
The Student Accommodation Opportunity fund, which is a regulated open-ended Luxembourg SICAV SIF, is managed by Luxembourg Fund Partners with Ingman Capital Partners acting as independent investment adviser.
