It has a population of about 20,000 and is best known for its cathedral and markets, but the Cornish city of Truro may currently be the best place to be an independent financial adviser, research suggests.
Data from adviser search tool Unbiased.co.uk shows almost one in seven inhabitants of Truro searched for a financial adviser in the first three months of the year - a higher proportion than anywhere else in the country. It compares with an average of fewer than one in 50 people for the UK as a whole. The figures suggest there is a clear demand for advice from people in the South: more than 10% of people in Salisbury also searched for an adviser on Unbiased, while the figures for Stevenage (9.6%), Bath (7.6%) and Cambridge were also high.
