An enterprise investment scheme (EIS) qualification for financial advisers has been launched by The Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA).
The EISA said the qualification would be particularly helpful to independent advisers who must consider a wider range of retail investment products for their clients.
The course, structured with the help of tax service Tolleys, can be accessed online via the EISA website and includes an online exam.
Lord Flight, chairman of the EISA, said: "This education programme has been evolved in response to demand from our members and is likely to revolutionise the way financial advisers invest in EIS investments.
"[It] will help propel EIS investment in such a way that, not only will small businesses gather the support they badly need, but [it] will also give investors broader access to this valuable and tax efficient style of investment."
