The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) said it expects advisers' share of the mortgage market to increase markedly this year as a raft of changes boost their prospects.
AMI chief executive Robert Sinclair said the anticipated entry of new lenders to the market and pent-up demand from some three million homeowners who want to move or remortgage could see advisers' share rise from £70 to £82bn. Sinclair (pictured) said another market driver may be high cost of fully-advised sales pushing lenders toward considering outsourcing that service. "The road ahead is about to get better and better for you guys," he said at First Complete's Top Performers Conference.
