A free guide designed to help adviser firms select a discretionary manager has been launched by Defaqto.
The guide outlines the role of a discretionary manager and provides tips on how to carry out appropriate due diligence when selecting a discretionary partner.
Defaqto says its due diligence checklist will help firms appraise and compare provider performance, assess managers' expertise and resource, and compare charges.
"With so many adviser businesses now outsourcing their investment process, discretionary managers are looking to partner directly with advisers to offer a solution," a Defaqto spokesman says. "This is clearly a growing area, and is providing a real alternative to multi-manager investing.
"Our guide aims to help advisers better understand discretionary management and help them through their due diligence when selecting a discretionary manager. It will also help discretionary managers better understand advisers' needs in this area."
