BP chief executive Tony Hayward will tell US politicians today that he is "deeply sorry" that the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, and admit that the disaster should never have happened according to The Guardian.
In his opening remarks to a congressional committee, Hayward will speak about the sadness he feels about the ongoing environmental disaster, in which 11 oil workers were killed. American lender Metro Bank has named the date for opening its first British branch.
The company will launch its outlet at Holborn, in London, on 29 July, promising seven-day opening and hours of business that will be "twice as long as other banks" says The Scotsman.
Metro claimed it is the "first UK high street bank to launch since the 19th century" and promised stilt walkers, musicians, jugglers and face painters as part of its three-day opening celebrations. Read full story...
