Lloyds group executive director of retail banking Helen Weir has joined the board of governors at the ifs School of Finance.
Weir, who is current chair of the British Bankers' Association Retail Committee, joined Lloyds TSB in 2004 as the group's finance director.
She was previously group finance director at Kingfisher Plc from 2000 to 2004, and before then held the position of finance director of B&Q for five years. Her early business experience was with McKinsey and Lever Brothers.
The ifs says Weir joins at an important stage in its development, following the organisation's recent receipt of taught degree-awarding powers.
Principal at the ifs School of Finance Gavin Shreeve says: "I am pleased to be welcoming Helen Weir to the board of governors at the ifs.
"Her extensive boardroom experience and business expertise will further strengthen our existing board that already boasts highly skilled and qualified members from the financial services and education sectors."
Weir has a degree in Mathematics from Oxford and was awarded a CBE for services to Finance in the 2008 New Year's Honours List.
She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and in 2007 joined the Business Advisory Board and the Business Advisory Forum of the Said Business School at the University of Oxford.
