Retirement planning top advice driver in 2009

Retirement planning remained the UK's top financial concern last year and the main reason people sought independent financial advice, according to research by Unbiased.com.

The number of people looking for specialist financial advice on retirement rose throughout the year from 27% in January 2009 to well over a third (37%) by December 2009. Second highest was investments and savings advice, with 28% of searches being made in this area in December, up from 22% in January 2009. Demand for independent financial advice generally stayed strong throughout 2009, with in excess of 350,000 consumers using Unbiased.com to find guidance from an IFA.
