Aegon has unveiled a fund selection and portfolio building service which will allow advisers to choose off-the-shelf investment solutions or a more flexible, bespoke approach depending on customers' needs.
The proposition, which consists of four fund ranges, is aimed at meeting the needs of both the individual and corporate market and is supported by OBSR and Mercer.
The Guidance Range of funds offers a shortlist of ‘best of breed' funds taken from Aegon's full fund range, dynamic and hand-picked by Aegon, OBSR and Mercer.
The Select Sector Portfolio Range of funds is a diversified fund of funds representing a single asset class or specialist sector within a range of ten sector ‘fund of funds'. Advisers keep control of asset allocation and can use the portfolios to meet the asset allocation completely or just use one or two in sectors they're less familiar with.
The Select Risk Profile Portfolio Range of funds, in partnership with OBSR, are fund of funds designed to match risk levels 3 to 8 on Aegon's Investment and Retirement Planning Tool, for customers in the main risk categories.
The Corporate Governed Range of funds are chosen with Mercer for the corporate pensions market, and are continually monitored and dynamic.
Aegon's life and pensions marketing director Andy Marchant says: "We know these days advisers want to spend more time advising clients and less time researching funds, so we have created two distinct fund ranges, one for individuals and one for corporate customers, each containing highly rated, hand-picked funds."
Helping to select the funds, OBSR and Mercer will also give their input at monthly investment advisory committee meetings to monitor independence and due diligence.
Aegon is also offering advisers the use of its Investment and Retirement Planning (IRP) tool and its new charting and analysis tool.
The whole of market IRP tool helps advisers record customers' wealth management needs, identify gaps in provision, work out risk profiles and asset allocations and access products and funds within the UK market. It then generates a client report and record of the advice process for auditing purposes.
Meanwhile, the charting and analysis tool, developed for Aegon by Financial Express, allows advisers to produce past performance charts for every UK fund, access fund fact sheets, find independent ratings and analyse historic data on funds as well as generate reports and charts for clients.
