Axa dominates the nominations for the 2009 LifeSearch Protection Awards after scooping six trophies last year.
The insurer is up for nine gongs, including best overall provider, best service provider and the TCF award, while Legal & General (L&G) is nominated six times after bagging two awards last year.
Axa will be fighting it out with Fortis and Royal Liver for most improved provider and the latter two are also in line for best new initiative alongside PruProtect.
Best critical illness provider will be one of Axa, BUPA or Royal Liver while best income protection provider will be Friends Provident, LV= or Pioneer.
Graham Harvey, managing director of Axa's protection business, has been nominated for most engaged provider CEO, although he faces stiff competition from Fortis's Martin Werth and Royal Liver's Mike Warr.
The sixth LifeSearch Protection Awards will be held at the Hiscox Arts Café in London on 18 March.IFAonline
