New Star has announced Charles Deptford will replace Stephen Whittaker as manager of its Equity Income Unit Trust with immediate effect.
The company says the appointment will allow Whittaker to focus his attentions on the management of the New Star UK Growth fund.
Prior to joining New Star in June this year, Deptford was head of UK retail equity funds and managed both the Baring Equity Income fund and the Baring UK Growth fund.
He has also managed money at Insight, Rothschild, where he was head of UK equities from 1996 to 2003, and Eagle Star.
Mark Skinner, managing director, New Star Investment Funds, says: “I am delighted to announce Charles’s appointment.
“Charles has a proven and consistent track record and I am confident that his considerable expertise will benefit investors in the New Star Equity Income Unit Trust.”
