Mixed trading on the London stock exchange today was not hindered too heavily by loss of confidence in Prudential shares, after the life insurer announced it would hold onto its Egg stake.
The FTSE 100 index eventually closed up 14 points or 0.32% to 4,429.7 after Prudential regained some of its losses. Earlier in the day, Pru shares dropped 3.75% but had pulled back to end the day down just 5.25p or 1.16% to 447p. Anvescap also dropped 6.25p or 2.21% to 276.25p while BOC Group lost 20p or 2.14% to 913.5p. BG Group, the gas company, gained 7.5p or 2.19% to 350p while British Airways also managed to pull back 4.75p or 2.12% by close of business to 229p. Anglo American also closed the day up 18p or 1.55% to £11.79. In the US, the Dow Jones was down 29.9 points or 0....
