Scottish Life's pensions e-information centre known as Technical Central has enhanced its technical and practical support provisions for IFAs ahead of A-Day.
Enhancements are designed, says Scottish Life, to provide intermediaries with practical information and support to help them navigate through pension simplification and can reached through the Scottish Life website.
Information provided look at how residential property can be used as an asset of a pension scheme after A-Day and how pension scheme benefits can be used to purchase property which can then be leased and the rent and the proceeds paid into the pension scheme - tax-free.
There is also a guide to the Pension Protection Fund and, more specifically, how the PPF will work along with a summary of the rule changes around paying into a UK pension while overseas.
Maureen Duckworth, who has overall responsibility for A-Day technical support and development at Scottish Life, says: “There's no escaping the fact the pension industry is about to experience its greatest ever overhaul. On 6 April 2006, a new unified tax regime comes into effect which will apply retrospectively as well as for the future. All types of pensions will be affected and lots of people are going to need advice both before and, just as importantly, after the big day. The A-Day area on Technical Central has been designed to provide IFAs with all the help and support they need through these difficult times.”
