Neil Pegrum has left Insight Investment to join Cazenove after less than 18 months with the group.
Pegrum currently runs Insight's UK Dynamic and UK Discretionary funds, so deputy manager Andrew Cawker will assume responsibility for both funds with immediate effect.
David Norman, managing director responsible for business partnerships at Insight, said Cawker will look after the portfolios in the medium term while the group looks at potential hires to fill the role.
Pegrum will remain employed by Insight until the end of his three-month notice period although he will not be in the office during that time.
It is not yet known what role Pegrum will fill at Cazenove. The group hired five managers from HSBC Asset Management back in 2002, including Tim Russell.
Before joining Insight in December 2002, Pegrum had worked at M&G for 16 years, running the group's flagship British Opportunities fund for 14 years.
