Friends Provident has upgraded its online underwriting system to enable IFAs to amend protection applications after the policies have started.
The provider believes the move is an industry first and says it is in response to feedback from advisers wishing to have grater control and flexibility over online protection applications.
Advisers will be able to log back into the original application and submit changes, whereas previously they would have had to request updates by phone or post.
Updates to clients’ personal and payment details can be made at any time during the policy, but changes to health details, start date, sum assured and term must be made within 90 days of the policy start date.
Dave Mace, head of e-business at Friends Provident, says: “This is a very positive step and will help IFAs enhance their client relationships while at the same time saving administrative time and effort.”
