Prudential's group chief executive Jonathan Bloomer is being replaced in May by the group finance director at HBOS who worked at the Pru until two years ago.
A statement issued this morning by the life assurer says Mark Tucker, current group finance director at HBOS will join the Pru board on May 6, having previously worked at Prudential until 2003 as executive director of Prudential and chief executive of Prudential Corporation Asia.
Outgoing ceo Jonathan Bloomer says he is “disappointed” by the board’s decision to replace him, but will be leaving the firm on May 5:
“I am pleased that Prudential is in terrific shape and I am confident that the current strategy and momentum will continue to deliver to shareholders. There is a strong team in place and all four core businesses have delivered record profits. We have had to manage the company through difficult times and not everything has made us popular but my job has been to lead a transformation and Prudential is now set fair to deliver further substantial growth and returns. Obviously I am extremely disappointed with the Board’s decision, but I wish them all the best.”IFAonline
