More than four-in-10 economist members of the Society of Business Economists believe house prices could be lower in three years' time, a new survey suggests.
Published by BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, the research interviewed 255 SBE members for their opinions on where house prices may be heading.
More than half believe house prices are unlikely to drop, but, then, more than half also believe prices will crawl ahead during the period under review.
And just shy of one-in-five actually feel house prices could drop by more than 10% by the middle of 2007.
As a result, earnings growth is likely to be better than house price growth over the next three years, according to more than eight out of every 10 answers received from the economists.IFAonline
