Zurich has produced an underwriting guide for intermediaries with tips on how to complete the application process and information on medical definitions, exclusions and risk assessment.
The guide, which is available online, has practical tips to help advisers with the application process, such as the appropriate way to submit medical information, and a requirements checklist to ensure additional evidence is submitted correctly.
It provides information on all aspects of underwriting, including:
- Key factors affecting risk assessment;
- Medical definitions;
- Occupation classifications;
- Hazardous pursuits classifications;
- Travel exclusions;
- Mandatory medical evidence;
- Financial guidelines for Zurich policies; and
- Types of financial evidence required for different levels of cover
The guide also contains links to downloadable underwriting forms.
Phil Brown, director of underwriting and claims, says: “Our philosophy is to pay valid claims promptly but to help us achieve this we require complete and accurate customer information.
"By producing this guide we hope that advisers will find it easier to submit the relevant information at the outset, avoiding the need to request additional information at a later stage therefore speeding up the application process.”
