Freddie Mac's chief financial officer has been found dead, according to police reports.
David Kellerman's body was 13 miles from his home near Washington DC, but police say they did not suspect foul play.
The 41-year-old had worked for the US state-backed mortgage lender for 16 years, and had held the role of CFO since September 2008.
Police have refused to confirm reports Kellerman committed suicide.
The news is the latest blow to Freddie Mac, which saw chief executive David Moffett resign last month after just six months in the role. The firm has already revealed a loss of $50bn in 2008 and has received billions in Government aid.IFAonline
