Bergqwist and Willing set to depart Gartmore

Gartmore's fixed income co-head Karl Bergqwist and UK Focus fund co-manager Ashley Willing are likely to leave the firm following discussions with the company this week.

A spokesperson at the asset manager confirmed the roles held by Bergqwist and Willing are among the 60 to 75 positions likely to be made redundant, as Gartmore reduces its total head count by 15%. The expected manager departures follows yesterday's news head of asset manager sales Simon Clark and head of strategic partners Julian Hince are to leave the firm. Berggwist has been joint manager of the Gartmore Corporate Bond fund with Simon Surtees since 2005. The fund is down 22.8% over one year to 28 November, according to Lipper figures.
